BREAKING: government’s decision to proscribe Palestine Action under terrorism law ruled UNLAWFUL

This matters for everyone.

For years, the right to protest has been under sustained and deliberate attack.

Thousands of people have been arrested for something that should have never been a crime.

What @npr.org is the point of running a piece like this where you allow an official to brazenly lie with NO pushback from the interviewer? Plechash states, "the hard work of the administration to remove the worst of the worst criminals from our communities."

This is where people snatched up in Trump's occupation of Minneapolis and Saint Paul are being sent.

After the first death at the notorious "tent city" at Fort Bliss, advocates warned ICE that detainees reported extreme physical and sexual abuse at the facility.

Within weeks, two men were dead.

On the morning of January 28th, forty years ago, I was a bike messenger in Chicago. That's when I first heard about the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster. This poem of mine first appeared in Poetry East in 1991, and then later in Bulletproof, my first book.

The officer who shot Alex worked for DHS for 8 years. The officer who shot Renee worked for DHS for over 10 years. Both are considered “highly trained.”

The problem isn’t "training." DHS was built to violate our rights and has been empowered to act with impunity. We must MELT ICE and dismantle DHS.

Worked on this small poem this week thinking of 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos abducted by DHS and ICE thugs. I'd hardly finished it when these ghouls went and murdered 37-year-old nurse, Alex Pretti, for filming their crimes.

For the nurses. Thank you to the sleepless guardians who keep watch on my son in the night. These past few months living with my son’s cancer have had a profound impact on me. Now, whether at the hospital or at home, at night, I think of them.

1. This short thread is about the issue that dominates almost every aspect of politics, and causes or exacerbates most of our problems: the extreme wealth of a small number of people. Here’s the amazing thing: almost the entire political class aligns with the ultra-rich against the rest. 🧵1/10

Every time you hear dishonest, misleading "we are so polarized" both-sidesism from the mainstream news, consider Mamdani's inauguration today: calls for love, taking care of the vulnerable, building community, protecting each other, etc. Contrast that to any GOP event with attacks, vitriol and hate.
