Even just on a personal level, I don't know that @crub.org exists if not for Respawn's founding group splitting off from CoD in 2010.
I brought a few pals from unrelated groups together to play Apex because it looked neat, and almost 7 years later, we run a business together.

People say gatekeeping a hobby is bad, but it has a very specific use case: You should gatekeep if it means bullying away anybody who thinks "attack drone game boy" is a product worth creating or buying.
