Today is World Calligraphy Day, and hopefully you know that #Tolkien was an accomplished calligrapher. He used different styles of handwriting and alphabets to create depth in his stories. Not just an author, poet and scholar, but an artist, too!

Taking a calligraphy class on insular majuscule which was used in the book of kells. Last night was my first lesson and worked on this for morning practice. Good start with more room to improve 😅

I love learning and trying new things like this and you never know when those skills will be useful. I got better at color theory working on pixel art like hue shifting for shadows & highlights

Proud of this piece (18x20") and first time submitting to an art show in years. I made this as a gift for my mum based on one of her fav works by Picasso. I made the template, practiced glass paint and used gold leaf for the eyes
