Police and ICE have been capable of this the whole time. American law enforcement have been disappearing community members for centuries. To take it over the edge like this, all it took was an elected official cruel enough to test the limits of their efficacy.

Remember in 2020 (and long before) when we said “Abolish the police!” “Abolish ICE!” This is why. These institutions are doing exactly what they were designed to do: enact violence, oppression, and terror upon marginalized people. These are domestic terrorists employed by the state. We must resist.

If you have control of a public space right now, or even a private one that borders public space (like an exterior wall) take a moment to decorate. In these times we need more art, more color, more expressions of joy and hope and solidarity and resistance. Do not succumb to the gray. Be bold!
