my intent is not to “build a private language,” but it’s to provide evidence that AAE has a very important structure that, while it allows variation, still must be followed. simply insinuating that a natural way of speaking by a large population is just “slang” implies anyone can use it willy nilly—
I have questions. So language as it's structured is meant to convey a thought for communication. Communication being "common" between people to make a point. So meaning you only talk to people when it benefits the situation. Why build a private language or break down one that is already established?
