Never Out of Date: How Hannah Arendt Helps Us Understand Our World
Fifty years after her death in New York, Hannah Arendt has become the most popular philosopher of our time. For good reason: Her views are just as timely as ever.

This is unethical law enforcement practice.

Emblematic of defense illiteracy, almost every single paragraph in this article has something wrong with it.

The ‘Growler’ Signal-Jamming Jet That Helped Capture Nicolás Maduro
The U.S. used the jet for jamming and spoofing Venezuela’s air defense. It is a key tool in the military’s renewed focus on electronic warfare.

Book 1/2026: Redeployment by @philklay.bsky.social

I don’t know where I got this copy but I remember when it came out. Three deployments done when this was published in 2014.

So much amuses, angers, chastises, and saddens. He writes powerful short stories. Like Owen, I’ll keep writing poetry ✍️

@honer.bsky.social nice podcast! A lot of things I did not know.

Also, the WWII Museum of the Pacific in Nimitz’s hometown of Fredericksburg, TX is exceptional.

ADP 6-22 Army Leadership and the Profession is well-written. The logic map and the Army leadership requirements model are powerful tools for counseling and leader development.

JC Wylie was in his early 30s and a junior field grade officer when he helped develop the framework and handbook for the USN Combat Information Center.

Where are the field grades writing cutting edge doctrine these days?
As J.C. Wylie wrote, it comes down to the man on the ground with a gun.

Oh, this was from a NAVY ADMIRAL. Say it louder for the people in the back 👏🏽

Put links to university press website for books 2026 challenge. I’ve found with coupon codes or seasonal sales I can get them less expensive than amazon.* It also provided the university press catalog for new finds!

*If I understand correctly, authors don’t get a choice on where books are listed.

Working on book revisions and I have made this point like, 11,000 times but once more I feel the need to suggest that Carthage does not get a fair shake for how impressive its military machine was.

If Rome hadn't come first, the Carthaginians would have dunked the Hellenistic world into the sea.
