Should have known I was destined to be a genealogy researcher when I was a kid. My grandmother got the newspaper, my sister always claimed the Mini Page because she was the oldest, and I went straight for the comics and the obituaries. I was always fascinated by their stories.

Every time I give my mom a shower, she yells that I’m trying to kill her. This is dementia. This is caregiving. This is my life right now. Some days, it feels like God is holding this whole thing together with scotch tape—and barely at that. 1/3

Many people do not (yet) know that #Medicare and health insurance companies do not help to pay for caring for someone with dementia. Memory care costs you. Costs are not deductible on taxes.

#Dementia costs families 300 to 400 billion dollars per year in the US. #Alzheimers

These days, I’m spending most of my time at home, caring for a relative with dementia. Genealogy is still a big part of my life, though I don’t visit research spaces as much as I’d like. Just made a quick trip to Cambridge, Maryland—more soon!
