It's Thursday, so it's that time again. Today's call was very much the same broken record speech repeated over and over again. Up till now I've made this summary more like meeting notes,

This should terrify everyone, being disappeared from SSA locks up all financial aspects of a life and is extremely difficult to correct.
Earlier this year, employees began to fear bad actors, could target people for punishment by declaring them dead: “Anybody granted the appropriate permissions within Social Security could mark someone as dead, employees had realized, without having to prove their demise in any way” wapo.st/3RKSQQt
Trump administration overrode Social Security staff to list immigrants as dead
A senior executive who objected was marched out of his office and put on leave, while earlier warnings about the agency’s deaths database were ignored.

Maine D2 Rep Jared Golden voted with Republicans for the SAVE Act. This is a vote to disenfranchise women in his district. Flood his office with calls and emails. I’ve asked him to switch his party from Dem to R so everyone knows his real intensions. Mainers let’s run a real Dem in D2

Rep. Steven Horsford says it all.
Rep. Steven Horsford to Greer: "So the trade representative hasn't spoken to the POTUS about a global reordering of trade, but yet he announced it on a tweet? WTF! Who is in charge? It looks like your boss just pulled the rug out from under you. There is no strategy ... is this market manipulation?"

It’s a sh*t show out there for sure, use your voice and make some calls today. Every single member of Congress needs to stand up and say no. If your reps are Dems tell them to line up and take the floor of their chamber, take turns, and shut it down.

Yesterday was incredible. The official count is in — 5.2 million people joined the #HandsOff protest nationwide. So many are asking: what’s next? Mark your calendars: 4/19 is the next nationwide day of protest.

Reminder: Dr. Oz had to pay $5.25 million to settle a class action suit for promoting phony weight loss cures.

He is a conman. No wonder Trump likes him.

Now he's in charge of running Medicare and Medicaid.

The IRS unit that audits ultrawealthy earners has lost 38% of its employees this year.

This will starve the government of revenue by making it easier for the rich to evade taxes — which the top 1% already do to the tune of $163B a year.

See what DOGE is really about?

Have a go bag, take a first aid class, if you can have cash on hand then have cash on hand, do not buy things because you’re bored - buy only what you need. And of course be sure you’ve got all your papers (ids/passports) and make copies both paper and on your phone. Be prepared for anything.
Learn to garden, learn a specialized skill, learn how to fight and safely handle weapons, connect with your neighbors, learn how to barter goods and services. You can't do it all alone.

Educators have been vilified by politicians for many, many, many years. Both parties have worked to pin the blame for everything from being second in the space race to COVID policies on teachers. At the same time these folks praise their neighborhood schools. No educator is surprised by this move.
This will have devastating consequences. Nearly a million K-12 students in Minnesota rely on funding from the Department of Education.

Students in rural communities, low-income families, and those who need special education services will be hit the hardest.

This is the key to remaining calm and finding joy. Invite your neighbors over, share a meal/snack/drink and reconnect. We are kicking off our neighborhood brunch club next weekend - all the neighbors are coming because this is what we need.
Can’t emphasize this enough: if you’re feeling overwhelmed by the debased assault on our country, the antidote is connecting with other people in the flesh who are feeling the same way. There are millions of us.
