@washprobs.bsky.social I find it fascinating that we can’t find the money for SNAP but we can find money for the Blue Angels to buzz downtown DC several times.

Hey @NPR @nytimes great coverage of the Chicago march. Did you see that there was one in DC too? Thousands of people demonstrated, including city officials, religious leaders, and past mayors. The occupation of DC is terrorizing Black people & immigrants. I don’t see that in your coverage though.

Thank you @beyer.house.gov, @elfreth.house.gov & @repkweisimfume.bsky.social for calling out this callous and irresponsible destruction of lifesaving aid! Family planning is one of the best investments in development, building health and wellbeing for women, families & communities.
Trump’s State Department is spending $300K to incinerate 500 tons of emergency food aid and nearly $10M in contraceptives instead of distributing it to those in dire need, as intended.

We're demanding an investigation to find out why. More here: beyer.house.gov/news/documen...

Thank you, Sen. @amyklobuchar.com.

As we at @guttmacher.org noted, including to @npr.org, those supplies could have provided pregnancy prevention for more than 650,000 people for up to one year, and for 950,000 people for 3-10 years, depending on the method.

But alas.

BREAKING: On a 5-4 order, SCOTUS denies DOJ’s motion to vacate Judge Ali’s State/USAID order, but notes that his prior deadline passed, so Ali is going to have to go back to the drawing board and “clarify” what the gov’t needs to do, “with due regard for the feasibility of any compliance timelines.”

Just so we’re clear, the only Republican with the guts to vote against this farcical nominee was Mitch McConnell. Not “independent” thinkers like Lisa Murkowski or Susan Collins. That’s the hold this president has on the party.

Long article, but it's long because it lays out the ways that aid orgs - even those not funded by USAID - are interconnected. And how waivers are illusions if there's no structure. #stopthefreeze

I don’t know where to put all of this fear, sadness and anger. Lives are already being lost, people here are losing their livelihoods, families are being broken up, most newspapers in this country are barely covering the cost of the new regime’s actions to families in their very own communities.
