Yesterday I did a live drawing event in at the dragon days festival in stuttgart for tad williams' "the navigator's children" - it was an experiment with liquid watercolour.

Und übrigens: Wir haben ihn damals, als wir ihn von UFO in Otherland umbenannt haben, gefragt, ob es für ihn ok ist. Er meinte: Great! Everybody always asks me, how I came up with the Name of my Otherland books. Now I just tell them it's after this great Bookshop in Berlin/Germany. Wir haben übrigens noch ein paar signierte Bücher, falls ihr welche haben wollt! Und übrigens: Wir haben ihn damals, als wir ihn von UFO in Otherland umbenannt haben, gefragt, ob es für ihn ok ist. Tad Williams' Tailchaser's Song was one of the formative fantasy novels I read as a kid. It was the gateway drug that then led me to Tolkien, Elliot, and more. Princess Bride and Last Unicorn would be in there too.

And Stephen King's IT while I was way too young. Likely explains many things.

Als ich vor drei Wochen Tad Williams moderiert hab, fragte er im Gespräch davor, was ich denn schreiben würde. Ich sagte: "I'm just another midlist author" und er rückte mir so sehr nett den Kopf gerade und sagte, HEUTE Midlist-Autor*in zu sein, ich könne mal verdammt stolz drauf sein. 🙈

Seit ich meinen ersten Roman 2006 veröffentlicht habe, ist es eher schwieriger geworden, vom Schreiben zu leben. Es gibt mehr sinnvolle Wege zur Veröffentlichung, was den Zugang erleichtert, aber gleichzeitig konzentriert sich auch mehr auf die Spitze. Der Mittelbau ist dramatisch geschrumpft.

After the Otherland novels, Tad Williams returned to fantasy to tell the tale of a disenchanted rock singer, who once skated by on good looks and charm but has fallen on hard times. 1/3

Here are a few of the interior illustrations for Tad Williams' new limited edition release 'To Green Angel Tower' from Grim Oak Press. This is the 'third' book in the trilogy of Memory, Thorn and Sorrow, which is so large it is broken into two volumes which means I was able to paint 12 images..
