Detective Instinct's menu-based sleuthing charmed me!
I'm on board with this retro throwback train-set detective game, which taught me to love menu-based sleuthing
Detective Instinct: Farewell My Beloved is dedicated to sharing the developer's love of retro mysteries, and it's too charming to put down

Mewgenics is already an all-timer anecdote machine that's gotten even a tactics coward like me obsessed. Great review from Ali! @edmundm.bsky.social @tylerglaiel.com
This tactical cat roguelike has me hooked on perfecting my kitten army
Mewgenics combines The Binding of Isaac's gross-out roguelike charm with Into the Breach's strategy excellence

When you ask @dkbailey64.bsky.social for a write-up of a new game and he turns it into a detailed deep dive for a PS1 game instead... Great piece digging into what makes DQ7 special!
I'm almost embarrassed how on-brand my feelings about Dragon Quest 7 and its remake have been, but the heart wants what it wants
After 50 hours, I've fallen in love with Dragon Quest 7 – not the JRPG's breezy new remake, but the 25-year-old PS1 original www.gamesradar.com/games/dragon...

Come for the cute kitties, stay for the samurai-ninja swapping combos. Great review from @luke-k.bsky.social here! Happy to hear the devs nailed a more open approach.

Forced @willsawyer.bsky.social to tell me all about grabbing the shieldbreaker to raid the enemy base.
Highguard review: "A fresh but muddled FPS genre mashup that needs refinement if it's to have any staying power"
Highguard is an unusual combination of first-person shooter trends from the last decade, making for a game that is hard to define.

it does somehow seem right and good that i should have literally feverishly written about about tr-49, the puzzle game that's consumed me the past week

Gorgeous looking book for an incredible game.
We're kicking off 2026 in fine style with Citizen Sleeper 2: Design Works – like the game, it might just be even better than its predecessor. Plenty more surprises coming up, too... what are *you* hoping to see from LIC this year?
You can miss a lot in an evening, Sleeper.

Highguard has some great, tense conflicts... eventually.
I love Highguard's 2Fort-style sieges – when they actually happen
Highguard can deliver some excellent firefights, but each match half-heartedly has to trot you through too many phases to get to them

'When Games Editor Oscar Taylor-Kent asked if I'd like to check out 2XKO, the excuses came flooding out. "But I suck at fighting games," I pleaded. "My dog ate my homework. Fighting games ate my dog!"'
I won my first 2XKO match using the power of rancid vibes, and it's sold me on a game I didn't expect to care about
