For those of us who have been writing and researching the Silicon Valley techno fascist movement this is exactly the oligarchs plan in part. Unfortunately it’s far far less than 4 years before we hit the point they need to hold power indefinitely through illegal and anti democratic means.
Thiel, Musk and other billionaire oligarchs are absolutely banking on there not being an after Trump. They hope to implode civil society so much in four years that it's open to elite capture. They are absolutely counting on there not being effective democracy in four years time, if not sooner.

Conservatives will call 15- minute cities a communist plot and then immediately go on a 20- minute tirade on how they want to build a fully self sufficient family compound that they never have to leave. #doesthatmakesense

Years ago I worked with a young guy in Afghanistan who wound up in a local government role and had to flee. I've been helping support him and his family through the P1 visa process since 2021, and they were cleared to fly to the US in 2 weeks... you can see where this is going. Flights cancelled
