It's #WorldMosquitoDay—and Day 3 of Entomology Advocacy Week! Today entomologists are urging Congress to reauthorize the Kay Hagan Tick Act to address vector-borne diseases carried by ticks & other blood-feeding vectors like mosquitoes.

Loving @mozzienique.bsky.social's talk at the World Mosquito Day Seminar on using In2Care bait stations to attract mosquitoes to larvicides that they then deliver to their breeding sites - very clever :)

While others see a lovely green laneway in Grosetto, I worry about mosquito breeding sites!

While I was happy that most pots drain freely without trapping water, one pot used with a tray did have larvae!

Different continent, same message: avoid standing water to reduce mosquito breeding sites!

Frustrating to see such blatant plagiarism by an article in a Wiley journal. See if you can spot the difference. No action has been taken by the journal.

While I am not opposed to the technology there are unique risks with the planned releases here (thread).

Thanks to the SECAN committee for putting on such a great event! I love cross-faculty events, its so impressive to see all the great research that happens across schools!

And I’m not just saying this because I got awarded one of the best talks of the day🫣😅

#throwback to the highly successful 3rd edition of the #SECANSummit2025! It was great to see the fantastic research from across the Science Faculty, high levels of engagement and networking! We can't wait to see what comes out from all the research presented!

Congratulations to all talk winners!

Enjoying your backyard lately☀️? Amazing! Just make sure you keep yourself protected from mosquitoes 🦟! With Buruli ulcer cases continuing in Melbourne and detections of JEV in NSW and VIC, we should give mozzie control in and around our homes extra thoughts! @pearg.bsky.social
