While others see a lovely green laneway in Grosetto, I worry about mosquito breeding sites!

While I was happy that most pots drain freely without trapping water, one pot used with a tray did have larvae!

Different continent, same message: avoid standing water to reduce mosquito breeding sites!

I’m currently doing extra colony maintenance because I’m building up numbers for experiments! @pearg.bsky.social

Enjoying your backyard lately☀️? Amazing! Just make sure you keep yourself protected from mosquitoes 🦟! With Buruli ulcer cases continuing in Melbourne and detections of JEV in NSW and VIC, we should give mozzie control in and around our homes extra thoughts! @pearg.bsky.social

This is the drain, so you know what to look out for.

I recently moved into a house with a storm water drain in the front yard. This has immediately caught my mozzie trained eye.

One of my favorite things is to bring in field samples and look at the mosquito eggs I collected under the microscope to confirm that they are indeed eggs and that they look healthy (like the ones pictured here). Looking forward to see the larvae that hatch from those in a couple of days 🦟

Lets play 'Find the Ovitrap' with me 🪣🦟 … Its retrieval day for the traps I set up a week ago and I sometimes still surprise myself by how well I hid them😅

Hello Bluesky! I‘ll use my first post to reflect in the great three days I had at the 3rd international Mycobacterium ulcerance Conference! I learned a lot and am happy that I was able to present some of my mozzie work! Thank you @tstinear.bsky.social and the MU community for being very welcoming!
