Republicans have introduced a bill to kill the estate tax—just to hand 8 ultra-wealthy people per 10,000 a tax break.

Being a historian, people ask me if I think the US is living through Germany 1933.
I answer no, analogies are always imperfect but to me it feels more like Russia 1999: a blatant theft of state assets and liberals in a fugue state, refusing to believe the arc of progress is bending against them.

On FB my local paper announced that a fired federal worker from our community would be a guest of our congresswoman at the Capitol tonight. The MAGAts in my community jeered at him getting “special treatment because he lost his job.” Happened to me, they said, and nobody took me to the SOTU.
