It's so often just an express road to IPO where the actual product is an afterthought. Once you get close to 100M valuation you get your exit. Lather rinse repeat.

The only tech I've found that's good at predicting my interests is TikTok, and I suspect that ability will wane under new ownership.

Wait until you hear about "lemme do"

At the very least, make the walk to the actual track at least slightly dramatic.

Which architecture school is teaching that people want to walk through expansive plazas and concourses on their way to things?

Oculus. Anaheim. This... thing.

And can they please stop?
January 30, 2026 at 7:36 PM
I can't. I just can't.

The platform is right there on the left, but you have to go up and down friggin STAIRS or ELEVATORS through an expansive plaza with public art to get there.

WHY.
January 30, 2026 at 7:32 PM
THE PLATFORM IS RIGHT HERE OMG
January 30, 2026 at 7:29 PM
Up and down to a *side platform* station?

No escalators?

Did a staircase design this station?

I'm going to become the joker.

I eat almost anything, but pea protein is vile. It's like you concentrated 1000000 split pea soups into a little mini neutron star of pea.

Just regular cloth masks in the cold. KN95s are super uncomfortable.

"Sorry I missed our meeting today, my new assistant wasn't aware that 1:45-3:30 is my focus hour and should not have scheduled over it."
January 23, 2026 at 9:51 PM
"Kathy is out of office on family leave, please circle back with her re scheduling our meeting upon her return."
January 23, 2026 at 8:48 PM
"Please reach out to my assistant to coordinate schedules, she has visibility into my Teams calendar."
January 23, 2026 at 12:58 AM
"Got your email. Can we put some time on the calendar to discuss?"

Hold up, was the end music in Phantom Menace lifted from Powaqqatsi?
January 15, 2026 at 4:04 AM
Also IIRC, in LA, *anything* with live preformance fell under the same zoning as strip clubs.

Have a cute jazz trio playing? You had to go through *all* the same community engagement and process as a strip club, including blocking out your windows so nobody could see the performers.

For approval, I would have to acquire a location, pay rent on it, and WAIT 18 MONTHS until they would tell me yes or no. If no, well, sorry. πŸ’ΈπŸš½

I wanted to open a place in LA to showcase local music and arts and also sell merch and snacks. There was no zoning for it. Went to the zoning office and the guy said sorry not possible without changing to a known business type (like coffee house), or getting special zoning for a specific site.

TikTok Shop tried to get me to change a product title with AI. It suggested a longer title.

OK fine, let's click it so it shuts up.

A minute later, it tried to get me to change *the very product title it had provided* to an even longer one with AI.

Just brainless word salad generation.

As a pedestrian I'm always on guard when I see that. "Oh your foot might not be working properly."

NYC subway expansions starting to feel like a bargain.

Hello, I'm a very very large rubber band.
January 2, 2026 at 3:41 AM
Yeah, I was just in San Diego, I think they offer both.

They have the weird quirk of fare capping only working with the app and not with tapping a phone or card though.

Every 20-40 minutes depending on when you catch it.
