One idea in #TheMiddleLeadershipManual is the Knowing-Doing Gap which occurs when you know what you ‘should’ do but persist with what you’ve always done. The metaphor I use to describe it is a ladder with the bottom two rungs broken. You just can't make a start. www.themiddleleadershipmanual.com

One mistake I made early on as a middle leader was thinking I needed to do all the work for my team (leader as workhorse). I didn’t realise that including people in the process created a strong sense of shared ownership.
