I spent yesterday working on practice tracks for Melissa Dunphy @mormolyke.com ‘s “Wild Embers” for the feminist chorus I’m in and it is stunning.

I was watching something this week with a character named Santiago, and looked it up. If you are also Romance-language-challenged, Iago is James in Spanish, the patron saint of Spain, who supposedly brought Christianity to the peninsula and was buried in a Spanish church there after his martyrdom.

My recital at Wigmore this next week = come for the Duparc and Disney songs, and leave emotionally/molecularly changed by the Melissa Dunphy set. (No joke, half of the task of preparing this set is just feeling my emotions through it…the text is just so beautiful, and Melissa set it so perfectly!)

Whisper it quietly, but could "Boléro" actually be... good?

On Ravel's 150th birthday, read Melissa Dunphy on a masterclass in orchestration.

Today I'm listening to Chants by Melissa Dunphy, with poetry by the intriguing Rosaleen Norton. It captures mysticism, mystery, a world of fantasy, and a unique sense of spiritualality.

"Rise up, tattered and torn! Rise up, barren and reborn!"

It's been strange having a thing that brings me so much joy emerge in a moment of such despair, but our album is about finding connections with others through universal human experiences, so that's something, I hope. youtu.be/j91q_pxA-2M?...

This bottle here is the primary reason I have spent 200+ hours in the last month jigsaw-puzzling a massive tub of green glass shards. We found and picked out just the seal when we were digging the 103 South privy, and I was hoping to find the bottle that housed it. Hard work and patience = success!!

OMFG, I've been hit by the crime wave I keep seeing in the news: some fucking mail thief stole a fat commission check addressed to me and cashed it UUUUGGGGHHHH
August 8, 2023 at 3:31 PM
A little emotional about these two. Case gin bottles are almost impossible to assemble from privy contexts; I have LEVELED UP, ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED. If that weren't exciting enough, we have our first onion bottle now too, omgggggggg. Both from the bottom of the 103 South Privy. #archaeology

Melissa had a day or two free, and turned her puzzle solving skills toward the huge pile of glass we haven't processed yet, focusing at the moment at seven Chestnut bottles.

when movies get deleted for tax reasons, they should legally become public domain. people should be allowed to upload it anywhere they want. that's the tradeoff you make if you wanna delete your own movie released this year for a few extra bucks, and i think it's fair

Who needs the Thames? After a good rain, we can mudlark in the dog park across the street from our home in Philly! We always spot 18th- and 19th-century sherds, likely churned up from demolished privies and dumped back into the ground when the adjacent stretch of I-95 was built in the late 1970s

Absolute bullshit that everything in life takes longer than it should. "Oh I should dust." Three hours later, still dusting—it would be quicker to burn this house down than get rid of all the dust jfc. Self driving cars? What fucking use are they, don't have time to go anywhere, still dusting
