Priti Patel. Suella Braverman. Shabana Mahmood. Brown women desperate to be good little foot soldiers to white supremacy. Zora Neale Hurston was absolutely right when she said all skinfolk ain’t kinfolk.

What a great idea and at a very affordable price! I'm midway through Alex's co-authored book, Ring of Fire, and it's a cracking read. And easily one of the most compelling speakers that I've heard.
This January I’m launching an online course for people passionate about History. This isn’t a historian telling you things, it’s designed to turn you from a vociferous reader into someone who is starting to think like a historian themselves… Sign up details: introtohistory.eventbrite.com

@pierrenovellie.bsky.social I believe that you're a man who will appreciate (translation: hate) the DriveScore advert, currently in every podcast that I download.

"Do you consider yourself a good driver? Is your nickname Lord of the Parallel Parking Rings?"

Awful. Doesn't work on any level.

You should read this

substack.com/@lewisgoodal...

then look at the BBC who are leading with "thousand of immigrants were secretly let into the country" rather than "government covered up massive data breach and wanted to abandon endangered Afghans but were told they couldn't"

Just finished reading The Irish in the Resistance by @clodaghfinn.bsky.social and John Morgan; I can't recommend it highly enough.

Brilliantly told and incredibly easy to read. Fascinating stories of a bunch of people who, IMO, had absolutely no need to risk their lives but did so anyway.

Had an absolutely fantastic hour of comedy at the @sohotheatre.bsky.social seeing @pierrenovellie.bsky.social - I'm sorry you didn't get the "Portugal" memo, Pierre ;-)

If you can get a ticket, do so. The man's wit is as sharp as the suit!

I have a spare ticket for @pierrenovellie.bsky.social tonight at the Soho Theatre. On the plus side, I'm prepared to part with it at a bargain price! On the negative side, you have to sit next to me.

I'm not sure I have mastered this ticket reselling business yet ...

I'm running games of Chain of Command all weekend at www.bedfordtabletopexpo.co.uk

Probably the last time that I'll play v1 of the CoC rules. Been playing it for 10 years and still the best wargames rules I've ever played.

Eagerly awaiting v2 of the rules soon!

I'm having a crack at the Caunter camouflage scheme on this 15mm tank (the snappily named A10 CS Mk II A). Pretty pleased with it so far (still more to be done), especially as I've done the lines free-hand.

Been listening to an exceptional appearance by @claremulley.bsky.social on We Have Ways pod. Her knowledge (here, on the women of SOE) is conveyed with clarity, commitment and warmth, calling out common misconceptions deftly. The best three episodes of the pod to date. A superlative communicator.

Evening all. I'm going to try and be a touch more active on here, moving away from X, etc.

Current project: trying to work out if I can fit a 10' x 6’ wargames table up in the War Room. I can but it'll be a bit tight. Next step: buy another folding table and look at large chipboard or MDF sheets.

I've just downloaded this "seminal" work from one of this lifetime's great communicators. And I genuinely mean that. Go and get yourself a copy. It's 99p, for heaven's sake. Oh, and check your 'nads too.
