As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

Absolutely agree! I think an author’s beliefs usually do seep into their work and re-examining said work after the fact can be really informative.

I don’t consider this the same thing as assuming a correlation between work you personally enjoy and the intrinsic morality of the creator.
When someone’s shitness is exposed, re-examining their work in that light is reasonable. One of Alice Munro’s stories, in which the main character’s daughter stops speaking to her for the rest of her life, had me empathizing with the mother intensely long before I became a mother. Learning

Ten… years… 💀
Honestly even knowing that Fallout 4 is ten years old, it wasn't until hearing Griffin say it's been 10 years since The Final Pam that I truly became aware of the passage of time and instantly withered into a husk.

This and also I am very troubled by the suggestion that bad people never make good art because it implies a belief in the reverse: the creators of art you *do* love are incapable of ever being in the wrong. 😬
Here's a thing that I despise: When someone is outed as an abuser, TERF, terrible human, and ppl start going "I never liked them anyway" "I never found them funny" "They never wrote good things to begin with" and seriously shut the hell up. All of that is just to position you are superior and (cont)

I need to stop pretending that I’m going to watch whatever trending show or check out something on tiktock and just double down on being the out of touch curmudgeon I am.

I’m nearly 36, the only tv subscription I have is Dropout and i don’t enjoy short form video.

there are probably a handful of more evil politicians in the world but i know starmer tops the list of the most pathetic
NEW: Keir Starmer has said he hangs the English flag in his home and 'always sits front of a Union Jack'

He told the BBC: 'I'm very encouraging of flags. I think they're patriotic and a great symbol of our nation.'

Also you can say ‘I don’t think this thing in particular should have been sexy’ or ‘the way in which this thing is sexy doesn’t work’ without saying ‘media being sexy is wrong’
I'm really tired of the "everything should be sexy" / "nothing should be sexy" arguments about media. Some things should be sexy and other things should not be sexy and everyone needs to come to terms with the fact that not all things will please them, personally.

People feel entitled to the "product" (the art) and that's why they're using the left's language to make people feel bad about it: they're libertarians who want to not have to pay people for their labor, because they don't think labor is involved in creating art.

A lot of replies to this saying it’s basically spiders gorge with the handful of rich and famous artists ppl have heard of and… they may be right… but personally I think that’s giving these people way too much credit.
Dumbasses: Artists are gatekeeping their skills. The bourgeoisie look down from their canvas castles on us poor middle management stockowners!

I know the child safety arguments are made in bad faith and meant to drive queer and trans people out of public spaces both online and in person.

But I also have to wonder what child is lurking on this middle-aged wine aunt-ass app. Everyone here is at least starting to get missives from AARP.

and it's no wonder it's like that under post industrial capitalism where all of our work actions are streamlined and artistry is removed, ofc ppl do not appreciate cooks, architects, etc. even cleaning takes a certain art. 'artistry' is nothing more than a collection of specialized skills
making art is cool & it's work, & it feeds the mind. but it's not more magical than any other work like making food or houses. the magic & artistry of much work is often overlooked, intentionally or not. specifically in america, ppl do not appreciate the WORK people do around them

I think people think that art taking a long time to learn means like a month or maybe a year and not an ever expanding process that progresses with you the entirety of your time drawing. You don't "finish" getting good at art because that's not the freaking point.
