There was one thing on today's ballot here in Grand Rapids, MI. It was a school millage. I'm unemployed and no longer have kids in school but made sure to go vote yes (and get 3000 steps in on the walk to the polls!).

I honestly wonder if I'm a dying breed. I vote even if there is nothing on the ballot (e.g., a single candidate). I might have missed one election since turning 18 (I'm 60). Voting is the absolute smallest act we must make to be a participant in this country's future.

Saturdays I volunteer at a cat shelter. Mondays at Meals on Wheels. Easily the 2 best days of the week for me. Volunteering is so good for your soul and outlook. I've had some of the nicest chats with MoW people coming to the pantry. And cat petting? c'mon-that's free therapy!
