As I revisit Buffy, do we all remember the episode "reptile boy"? Has anyone checked the basements of these rich men and powerful politicians for a giant demon snake that grants them all this wealth? No? Ok.

*This is political satire. I don't actually believe in demons.

As a rainforest forms naturally all around this boulder, so do the more sheltered, humid conditions allow a rich bed of mosses and other plants to recolonise.

Continual nature loss is not inevitable: the reverse is equally possible.

Season 12 is off to a nice start. Ash rescuing Wilmer was a good Adventure, and the Mystery of the Steel Pokemon Rampage on Iron Island is intriguing

I miss the days when Ash won his gym battles despite being grossly overpowered by doing something absolutely wild. These days the gym battles are more battering each other to a standstill than they are super impressive. Gliscoar did make a good showing, though

Roark wants to hire team rocket to dig holes. Honestly, they should take that, except he's emotionally abusive towards his son, so not

I will be deeply disappointed if Brock doesn't add gateau recipe to his inventory after this

They've been chased by a fan, a lawn mower, and a dishwasher. Obviously it's time to take the elevator #ashlogic #pokemon

Ash learned the word "scrimmage" at some point?
December 14, 2025 at 12:15 AM
Ash, sees a microwave: "what's that?"
Brock, in a slightly awed tone: "a microwave"

Y'all live in a world with pokeballs, giant mechs, and pokeball transfer tech.

Is Sinnoh supposed to be their world's version of France? We've got this Gateau, Chateau thing as well as the one gym leader who was so French.

Speaking of which, take a drink every time someone says either of those words

The theme song is not bad, so it'll probably grow on me.

Prof. Oak had learned the French word for "cake." he's also developed a new cake obsession

Starting Pokemon DP: Galactic Battles (aka Season 12).

Hoping the theme song is good. #Pokemonwatchthrough

Brutal but effective public health messaging from New York Public Health.

The CDC is compromised. They’re no longer a reliable source of information.

They push anti-vaxx & anti-science grift.

Get your vaccines. Wear a respirator. Clean the air

Maybe the doctor in the #Buffy episode "Nightmares" is violating HIPAA left and right because that's *his* nightmare: these people who say they're not even related to my patient walk in and I tell them everything about all my patients

Make no mistake—both Netflix and Paramount are fucking awful choices in the continued consolidation of our industry but if it comes down to Kushner and the Saudis, Netflix is the lesser of two evils
Jared Kushner's involvement was "not mentioned in Paramount's press release on Monday morning about its $108 billion bid, nor were participating sovereign wealth funds from Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi and Qatar."

fancy that
Jared Kushner is part of Paramount's hostile bid for Warner Bros. Discovery
Paramount is telling WBD shareholders that it has a smoother path to regulatory approval than does Netflix.

Discworld QOTD, from A Hat Full of Sky

“I am no’ deid! I’m trying to have a moment o’ existential dreed here, right? Crivens, it’s a puir lookout if a man cannae feel the chilly winds o’ Fate lashing aroound his nethers wi’out folks telling him he’s deid, eh?”
Discworld QOTD, from Night Watch

“He didn’t look around, and watch and learn, and then say, ‘This is how people are, how do we deal with it?’ No, he sat and thought: ‘This is how the people ought to be, how can we change them?’ And that was a good enough thought for a priest but not for a copper…”
Discworld QOTD, from Eric

"Hell, it has been suggested, is other people.

This has always come as a bit of a surprise to many demons, who had always thought that hell was sticking sharp things into people and pushing them into lakes of blood and so on."

AT LAST SHE STOOD by @erinentrada.bsky.social was one of my favorite non-fiction books for young people this year. I learned a piece of history I knew very little about.

The book is featured in Philippines Esquire this week. Worth checking out.
