Thread: part of an ongoing project to erase people of color from military history:
1/ The US Government has quietly removed a memorial to Black soldiers who died in World War II from the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, South Limburg. The move follows a complaint from the right-wing Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission. ⬇️

This week, voters fast-tracked $11.8 Billion for public transportation.
And in all elections in 2025, Americans approved pro-public transit measures 16 out of 19 times at the ballot > www.apta.com/news-publica... #PublicTransitImpact

I had a run in with ICE snatching a man out of his car while walking my children to school this morning in NW DC
I asked a neighbor to continue walking my kids to school and I turned back to document and confront the ICE agents.

Kinda beyond belief how shortsighted these streatery regs are. Turn the streatery areas into 'temporary' sidewalk extensions, and let businesses use the existing sidewalk cafe regs if the city lawyers are so bent out of shape about safety.
D.C.'s streatery guidelines are punishing small businesses and vibrant neighborhoods, Woodley Park ANC commissioner Samuel Littauer argues.
To keep these staples of the city’s dining scene, he says we need a more permanent policy solution.

Opinion: D.C.'s new streatery rules are a costly miscalculation

This is my point. Trump absolutely did not run on this. “I’m going to drag preschool teachers out of classrooms in front of screaming toddlers.”
Imagine having a kid in this daycare who watches as their teacher is bodily dragged away by masked goons.

i’d also say that the GOP’s obsession with this gives candidates an opportunity to articulate and stand up for their values. “i refuse to make anyone feel like they don’t belong in my [state/city/community]. and i want everyone to live the best life they can achieve [insert policy slogan]”
I am taking particular pleasure in the complete collapse of trans-as-unbeatable-wedge-issue narrative this morning. It might be an 80-20 issue in voters minds, but it has to be on voters minds to matter. The results in VA demonstrate that it is very much not on voters minds.

The reason SNAP costs "exploded" starting in 2021 was because USDA implemented a change to the calculation of how much families should spend on food each month. This change was mandated by Congress in the farm bill that passed... in 2018, when Trump was president.

FL is moving forward w/ plan to end all childhood vaccine mandates. Starting with hepatitis B, chickenpox, and the bacteria causing meningitis and pneumonia. Then next year GOP FL legislature is expected to revisit 1977 law re: whooping cough, measles, polio, rubella, mumps, diphtheria, and tetanus.
