Currently working my way through Brendan Fraser's entire filmography.

My journey through the filmography of Brendan Fraser starts next week. This is my Julie & Julia era.
Shout out to the 2018 version of me who kept slightly neurotic notes about which Bloomsbury group books I was pulling quotes from including page numbers and copyright expiry dates. Really coming in handy as I make a spreadsheet of text permissions.

My desire to watch George of the Jungle (1997) was what started this whole idea.

An attempt was made to improve our day with Glory Daze (1995). Probably the worst movie of the project so far saved only by Brendan Fraser’s line, “You’re lucky I don’t know karate!” We both agree on a 2/10 rating.

A solo watch of Mrs Winterbourne (1996) while Corey goes to a choir performance and I stay at home to keep an eye on our vomiting dog. A fun filled evening for all.

Tonight we watched Now and Then (1995) and were delighted. Excellent dose of nostalgia for a Sunday night and a solid amount of screen time for Brendan Fraser despite his role being “uncredited Vietnam veteran.” 7/10

Next up we’ve got The Passion of Darkly Noon (1995). A former cultist takes refuge at the home of a woman whose husband is away. 👀

Brendan Fraser’s 13th movie was The Scout which, I’m reliably told, is the best comedy-fantasy about baseball ever made.

Back to the Pauly Shore universe with In the Army (1994). When I told Corey it had a 12% on Rotten Tomatoes he said he didn’t remember it being *that* bad. I suspect he wasn’t the most astute film critic as a child.

How dare you suggest that I forgot about my Brendan Fraser journey. Tonight we’re watching With Honors (1994).

I might not be at AWP this year but I DID finish a first draft of a full-length play today 💃🏻💃🏻 Next task: more activities that don’t count towards tenure.

School Ties (1992). A star quarterback receives a scholarship to a prestigious prep school and feels pressured to hide the fact that he is Jewish.

I love a Ben Affleck meme template so we will see if I get any out of this watch.

Getting ahead on week 3 by watching Encino Man (1992) tonight.

Tonight’s Fraser movie is Guilty Until Proven Innocent (1991), based on a true story of a wrongful conviction. Moving on up with a 58% on Rotten Tomatoes and more than one line for Brendan Fraser.

Fraserverse movie #2 tonight with the television film Child of Darkness Child of Light (1991). A Catholic priest who goes to investigate two reported cases of virgin birth; one of God, and the other of the devil. Brendan Fraser plays "John's friend."

Herman Melville's "Moby Dick" has perhaps the most memorable opening line in all of Western literature: "I hope you motherfuckers like reading about whales"

The measles outbreak in Texas is reminding me of the public letter Roald Dahl wrote about losing his daughter to measles in 1962, just before the vaccine was publicly available.

I REALLY wish that more rural Americans understood that so-called DEI grants are often used to do things like bring clean drinking water to rural towns.

What’s living in rural New Mexico like? Last night someone drove into a pole and the majority of the town lost power
