My eldest is 7. She was born in London, a citizen of the EU. America was the dependable leader of the free world. Times have changed

My anger with Trump and those who voted him in is now being rivalled by my empathy with all the deeply honourable and dignified Americans suffering the humiliation of having him as their leader

Trump has replaced the stable trading relations which America spent over half a century building with whimsical and arbitrary policymaking, in which decisions are posted on social media and not even his advisers know what is coming next.

From The Economist
Trump’s incoherent trade policy will do lasting damage
Even after his backtracking, the president has done profound harm to the world economy

In case any doubt about how Europe feels:

- everyone hates Trump
- we detest Vance even more
- this includes everyone in Greenland
- nobody has any wish to become American and live under a fascist dictatorship. We prefer free healthcare, cheap eggs - and not being ruled by convicted criminals

This is a totally unnecessary and avoidable fiasco singlehandedly created by the Trump administration

It's crazy to think MAGA, so famously anti-commie, patriotic and gas-guzzlingly anti-woke, are now siding with Russia, unconcerned by the treatment of war veterans and cheering on an electric vehicle...

My social media bubble tells me that Trump's America is imploding. Musk and Vance are broadly discredited and Republicans don't support Putin. How can I see outside my bubble?

SpaceX? Rockets exploding.
X? Falling to cyberattacks.
Tesla? Stock down 50% since Trump’s inauguration.

And MAGA’s plan? Hand him the government. Because nothing says stable leadership like a guy who can’t even keep his own companies from crashing—literally.

I'm experiencing cognitive dissonance because I believe Americans to be good people, and yet they have elected Donald Trump who will ruin so much good in the world
