I enjoy opening bluesky and seeing a bunch of WT criticism. I will continue to urge creators to go at their own pace. You do not have to make 60 fully rendered panels a week. You do not have to update weekly for free.

One thing I deeply regret about my comic is releasing it on January 20th instead of January 28th.
January 28th was when William Burke was hanged, curse my impatience. It's fine!

Why have hobbies and friends when you can isolate and draw comics 24/7 like an art goblin

I feel like we need to create a paradigm to combat this

I think we all need to start using more hashtags, we have to tag our work like we do on Instagram/tumblr so it becomes easier to index

This'll only work if we all do it together, more people will join in.

Artists: please hashtag your art🙏🙏
It seems like traffic on art has dropped significantly in the last 2 months not just on my art, but other artists. I wish I wasn't that type of person, but I'm pretty demotivated to post online at this point and constantly fight to get 30-40 likes on my own OC art in very mentally exhausting.

Haha? Autistic woman’s “jokes” actually a cry for help

Slowly working on coloring a few more pages of the Cheapjack Gentlemen intro for pitch purposes. I wanted to have the introduction of these two in there also.
Still needs rendering, but it's getting there.

Sometimes I have to remind myself that Cheapjack Gentlemen isn't my first comic, it's just the only one that ever managed to gain a semblance of traction and make it past the first chapter.

I have a handful of minicomics and abandoned longform comics from the past 20 years that I forget about.

Two in specific for Cheapjack Gentlemen -- this doesn't necessarily mean things will end well canonically, though!

Slowly entering the acceptance phase of the idea that financial stability is never going to come from making my comic, but from getting people invested enough that they want sexy pinups of the cast on Patreon. 😔

I changed my comic because of this.
Platforms like Webtoon have perpetuated this kind of audience expectation.
Never feel like you have to color your comic. More color/rendering/details doesn't necessarily make something better. Often times it's too much.
I'm finding as the years go on with me making comics that are primarily black and white, I am getting more readers commenting on 'why it's not in colour' and many others not reading because there isnt colour to begin with... that sure does stink!

Some earlier young Edmund & Abigail designs (2020) vs. their appearance in the comic!
I think everyone has an idea about what their relationship was at this point...

I'm pretty fond of the title itself.
The phrase "cheapjack gentleman" really clicked when I read it in a Victorian slang dictionary. It's an oxymoron that describes the protagonists perfectly - pretending to be honorable with shady business.
It's also a very unique phrase.

Putting together some 3D refs with base meshes and sculpting! I'm a total beginner at 3D modelling, but I think it will be very useful in the long run.
