I know that Marketplace keeps people tied to FB. Craigslist still exists. It’s not used much anymore so it’s hard to find an audience there, but we can change that by pushing our communities there instead.

Normally I spend my mornings scrolling TikTok during breakfast and then listen to news podcasts while walking the dogs. Today no TikTok and no dog walk cuz it’s -11°F. The disruption to routine is unsettling and I miss having the ground level view of what’s going on in the world.

Tonight I’m scrolling TikTok and crying. Fitting, because I’ve so often been moved to tears by TikTok videos, connecting with the hardships and heartwarming moments shared by people all over the world in a way no other app has done. I’m heartbroken to lose something that has enriched so many lives.

We are conditioned to not care about data security. The Patriot Act told us that govt can access anything at any time for any reason. Weekly we’re notified of a new US corp data breach. Meta & Google already sell our info with Ill intent. Now we’re expected to believe anyone cares about our data?

A few months ago I got a promotion and not one person wished me luckier than Augustus and better than Trajan. I’m still disappointed.
