Deeply honored to have my latest flash, about a selkie and her skin, in the Cincinnati Review miCRo: www.cincinnatireview.com/micro/micro-...
miCRo: "A Village Tries On Her Skin," by A. A. Balaskovits
In this Shirley Jackson-like fable, A. A. Balaskovits gives us a glimpse into collective cruelty and our age-old fear of, and fascination with, difference.

I have read, twice, Kevin Wilson’s Run for the Hills. Kevin does a thing, that I think is synonymous with brilliant writing, he makes a character think or say a thing that is true for the character, the story they are in, & also for the world at large. In so doing he makes the reader see themselves.

Fellow authors, I love you, and I know it feels like we don’t have a choice, but B&N and Am*zon both scheduled sales this week to preempt Independent Bookstore Day, a hugely vital source of income for indie bookstores. Please don’t promote their sales; please promote your local indie this week.

Granta mourns Mario Vargas Llosa. In memory of his life and work, we have lifted the paywall on all of his writing for the magazine, from his fiction to his account of running for the presidency of Peru.

I’m going to be zooming in for this, but I’m so glad to be part of this community at 100 West Corsicana, and I can’t wait to be there soon to do work that feels urgent to me.

I don’t enjoy listening to my own voice or even watching myself, I am grateful to lend my voice to an organization that’s changed my life, as it has done for countless others. @kenyonreview.bsky.social
supports the making of art in its rawest, most honest form. And to do that is radical.

Grateful for the opportunities—still profoundly surprised that I get to do this thing I love. Mindful that in undertaking this work, especially now, I also have the opportunity to give back. Excited to soon be part of this community and to stand alongside the very talented A. A. Balaskovits.
