Yesterday’s harvest of French breakfast radishes. We try to eat something out of the garden everyday—even if it’s just a sprinkling of herbs or lemon—that connection to the land and what we grow makes everything taste better.

A cake (a little late) for our coffee klatch’s January birthdays. It’s the Marion Burrow’s Plum torte recipe, but made with strawberries, and gluten and nightshade-free. (Trying to make things that are inclusive of everyone in the group). (Continued in comments)

Also had these delicious little mooncakes from Alex of Voyager Bake Shop—black cocoa red bean, and maple pistachio. Our first time trying ones that weren’t commercially made—these were great!

I tested out a very labor-intensive cheffy version of Tteokguk, a beef-based, rice cake soup that’s traditionally eaten for Korean New Year. Broth is a little dark but still tasty. Scallions from the garden, and egg from Piper-dotty! (And delicious kimchi from Andy at Nanoon)!
