Apropos of nothing ... both Ursula K. Le Guin & Samuel R. Delany both had ppl saying they'd "abandoned" SFF for "litfic" in the '80s just b/c they experimented with form & considered how gender, sexuality, & race informed the shape of genres & the narratives they tend to proliferate.
