Earlier today Don Lemon reported a protest at Cities Church in St. Paul, MN where they said pastor David Easterwood is Acting Director of the ICE Field Office.
They were 100% right.

we live two entirely different lives.
I am open to hearing why I’m wrong about this but I find it cruel when tenured academics get on here and crow about their upcoming sabbaticals, invited talks lined up and so on. We should all be proud of our successes, but now, as most of our colleagues hustle to make ends meet, it’s just…icky?

We’re living in an age of intense right-wing victimhood. Despite dominating political institutions, finance, and, yes, higher ed, the right is always complaining about being oppressed, silenced, & persecuted while they oppress, silence, & persecute everyone else.

The closures at UNC remind me to be thankful this holiday that I am at a theological school that has denominational commitment rather than subject to the general volatility of higher ed

Me also. f’ing exhausting.
I am officially pledging that I will do my best to not become a "I went through this therefore you need to go through it" type of senior scholar down the line. It is exhausting and prevents us from building healthier scholarly communities.
