You know what separates writers who break in from equally talented writers who don't? A small circle of peers who gave brutally honest notes, celebrated tiny victories, and kept them going when quitting felt easier. Cultivating those relationships deserves as much focus as writing your next script.

Finally catching up with the last season of Resident Alien (was saving it because it’s almost over 😭). This is the kind of show I would have loved to staff on. I’m so sad it’s done.

PS. Forever jealous of Cherry Chevapravatdumrong for staffing on this AND The Orville. I mean. That’s the dream!

I don’t understand why dating is so hard, all I’m looking for is a new best friend from scratch who I’m willing to die for that must get along with all my family and friends and have comparable ambition and identical values and wild sexual chemistry with me and no else forever

An exec at Amazon Studios, someone who was always helpful and championed writers, clued me in on shows that were staffing, and answered IP questions for a series I like that Amazon owns and has in development, just got laid off in the Amazon massacre. I hate this. I hope he lands somewhere great!

If you’re a creative thinking about giving up because things feel impossible and time keeps passing without seeming like progress is being made, just remember Pedro Pascal didn’t become a household name until he was almost 50.

It took 2-3ish years to develop and make both these shows. Think of the YEARS 100s of people put into making these two shows only to get cancelled after 10ish eps. Awful.
Amazon Prime Video has canceled "Countdown" and "Butterfly" after one season each.

Both series appeared on Nielsen’s top 10 streaming originals chart.

We did it! We have finally elected members to the WGAW Board who will advocate for TV lowers and mids! Our concerns have been shoved aside for far too long. There’s finally hope we’ll now be heard!

Voter turnout was still meh, but way way better than previous years! One step at a time.

🎉
Voting closes tomorrow at noon Pacific time. PLEASE don’t forget to vote. Every WGA election, turn out is dismal and this only hurts guild members. If you’re a lower or mid level TV writer, your vote matters now more than ever — we have NO representation on the BOD. Change that by voting!
If you’re a WGA member — particularly if you’re a lower or mid level writer — I highly recommend you read all the candidate statements and VOTE in the WGA BOD election now. We need the board to look out for lowers and mids. Your voting credentials were sent via email. Writers, please vote!

WGA MEMBERS: Vote in the election today. If you haven't been paying any attention at all this campaign season (like I haven't) DM me and I'll send you the list of who one of my plugged-in friends is voting for.

We don't want a paltry election turnout ahead of negotiations next year. 🙏🏾

I’m catching up with Matlock and you can just tell they have a really smart writers room. And I’m not just saying that because one of the writers is my CBS Program Mentee lol. They just seem really good at breaking story and playing with broadcast structure in a way that’s entertaining. Kudos!

The Pitt is fantastic & deserved the win on quality alone—but that 15 ep order is a ray of hope for me as well. Thought experiment I always ask people to do; what if there had only been 8 episodes in S1? Or 10? Doesn’t bear thinking about. The season was a terrific rich meal & I’m so happy for them.
the pitt meant so much to me this year, i'm so grateful for it

Got CBS/Paramount on my 5th try (finalist 2nd try). CAPE fellowship: finalist 2nd time applying, got in on my 3rd try years later. Was an Orchard Project Episodic Lab finalist in 2022, then got nothing in 2024 and got in 2025. You have to keep applying. It almost never happens on the first try.
That voice telling you your writing program rejection means you're not good enough? Put it aside. Programs have limited spots and specific needs each year. Your script might be perfect for next year's readers. The writers who succeed aren't just talented—they're relentless.

When people say TikTok/YouTube is going to replace movies and TV, this is what I’m gonna point them to. Because the audience for KPop Demon Hunters hasn’t just been adults — 12-16 year olds are currently obsessed with this movie.

There is room for everything. TV, Film, and Social Media.

THE MIND DOCTOR is out now and we’re already charting at #5 on the Apple Fiction Podcast Charts! All 8 episodes written by me! It’s like THE PITT but for audio. Created by Peter Hartmann and based on his life. Check it out! podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t...

💯 this. I love my manager. But I wouldn’t have her had I not left previous managers. Like with any relationship, you have to leave the lackluster in order to find the good.
Writers: having the wrong manager is often worse than having no manager at all. It can be hard to wait for the best fit, or to leave a professional relationship that's not serving you, but sometimes it's for the best.

There is a movie on Netflix called MY OXFORD YEAR and as someone who went to Oxford, I cannot stress enough how this was absolutely not my Oxford experience at all. 😂🤣😆

Literally, same! 🤣
I will be at SDCC Saturday and I look forward to many failed attempts to frantically meet up with people who literally live in the same city as me, and yet there's never any urgency attached to seeing them here.

TV used to just run out

you would watch until like 12:30 am usually which was the latest most shows would run and then it would just be infomercials or static until morning
What’s a real thing from your childhood that kids these days would find completely foreign?

Like, how we used to be able to walk right up to the gate to meet our family coming off a flight.

Or how we had to pick a spot to meet at the theater BEFORE we went.
