Utah Republicans made the report HHS said it would make (actual research! named authors! citations!!) and are mad it says gender-affirming care is good for mental health. They're not changing position, of course, but it looks like a great resource with 1000+ pages of real info on existing research.

I wrote about the ways that the Trump admin has been purposely fucking with the visibility of ICE enforcement/the increased invisibility of undocumented people in daily life/feeling called into visibility as a neighbor

Visibly Invisible
The Trump administration hopes not only to deport migrants, but also to make them feel so unsafe they no longer participate actively in our communities.

One of the things that breaks my heart about what happened to Sam Nordquist is he came to New York for love. So many trans people experience violence seeking it, especially trans women of color. Everyone deserves to find love, care, and connection, and no one should have to risk violence to do so.

Hosted friends for a card writing party to send valentines to incarcerated LGBTQIA+ people through Black & Pink yesterday. Such a bright spot of community after a tough week and a great reminder to get a B&P penpal. You can do that or learn about their other wonderful work here: www.blackandpink.org

Inspiring to see hundreds turn out to protest NYU cutting off care to young trans people. Coming together to hold institutions accountable when they preemptively comply with fascist initiatives is a pretty good way to fight the overwhelm.

seeing takes about the aid institutions and their role in imperialism. correct. If someone said "investor-owned hospitals exploit the vulnerable to benefit shareholders" I'd nod. If their followup was "and that's why I'm turning off your mom's dialysis machine" I'd...have some followup questions
But when it comes to cutting aid budgets no one says “let’s spend less money on Israeli or Egyptian military capacity”. Instead you want to start by taking healthcare and education away from people who have been made vulnerable by the structural injustices you create and benefit from.

Why target USAID when it’s <1% of budget?

“USAID funds democracy-promotion programs around the world, including in European countries where right-wing populist movements are thriving. Musk has become an ally of those movements, some of whose leaders have specifically targeted the agency…” Gift link

Drafting something demonstrating Trump Admin’s animus towards trans people feels very, have you heard the ocean has water? when they’re putting in official docs that we’re “corrosive on the validity of the entire American system” and “conflict with an honorable, truthful and disciplined lifestyle”

Had a hell of a week (it’s only Thursday, Lemon) reading EOs and getting ready to challenge some in court but when I got home from a work trip I found these stickers I got for pre-ordering Dean Spade’s new book waiting for me. What a joyful reminder of rad queer and trans people and movements.
