Independent. Orphaned (parents died trying to earn a cross-country beat for The Atlantic - no grudge). Godparents pushed a PhD (again, no grudge). Widow of virtuous/scholarly country minister (little grudge, God).

In the spirit of Groundhog Day, every day should be an endless repetition of our need for real fulfillment through demanding that the Department of Justice (DOJ) prosecutes the various criminally bad actors in the Epstein Files, until the victims can be satisfied that DOJ has finally done its job.

Ya, Alberta. It's time to stand up to Nazis, corruption, traitors, #UCP, #CPC, MAGATs, and Smith. I am atheist and find religion offensive. You will have a big fight if you touch female reproductive rights. Resist. Write letters. Sign recalls. Speak up. The enemy from the USA is here like a cancer.✊

Imagine that, upon realizing how much the economy dislikes your pick for Federal Reserve Chair, you try to cover it up by releasing three million of the Epstein Files. And that you're "Jeffrey's" good friend Donald Trump.

Show me 60 CEOs who realize that some people only respond to money, and I'll show you 60 ghouls who wait until after two unnecessary deaths to tell raving lunatics to "de-escalate tensions".

Reminds one of reading about the Kent State murders in the '60s (of course, I was only able to read about it decades later). D.C. really does want to relive the Nixon years.
AOC: "An ICE officer had violently pushed a woman to the ground and he had come over to help get her up and that is what precipitated this incident that very quickly led to an execution in the streets. What we are seeing here is a momentous pivotal moment for the United States."

The "constitutional reason" is that Germany has previously been on the wrong side of this sort of thing too often.

Progress without character is just speed (usually without a pleasant destination).

The most exhausting thing isn't grief, it's watching people manufacture emergencies as a negotiating style. Have you ever seen a toddler hold their breath in the cereal aisle? At least the toddler has fewer lobbyists.

If you ask, "What changed today?" you may be told, "We made progress." If you ask, "What progress?" you may be told, "We are continuing to evaluate." This is very similar to paying a chef to "continue to assess hunger" without cooking a single meal.

Tragedy. Nine months before July 2026 is October 2025. When JD Vance was being accused of being too close to Erika Kirk. I truly wish that Usha comes to her senses and runs far away.

The time of appeasements, compromises, and half-measures may well be over, although how has the last year not already been a period of consequences?
The European leaders are now finding out that their appeasement of Trump has made him a monster. At this point either NATO defends Greenland or they can expect that after Trump takes Greenland, he then comes for Canada.

Thank you, dear Tricia (@thewelshtaffy24.bsky.social), for bringing me into this wonderful Welsh Daffodil pack as part of the MLK Day celebrations. If ever there were a man for the U.S. to take as king, it was certainly the Reverand Dr. (or Dr. Reverand?), although as true clergy, he'd not take it.

Gov. Tim Walz, please help Minnesotans make the roads safer for all Americans, by directing your residents (and National Guard) to de-ice the streets.

Mayor Jacob Frey, I have an idea for decor on top of the lamp posts surrounding Minneapolis.
The DOJ is investigating Tim Walz for the same reason ICE invaded Minnesota: it's retribution for Walz calling Donald Trump "weird."

Our president is a fucking sociopathic maniac.

Reaching for an "Insurrection Act" is never so much about restoring order as it is about testing whether people accept military logic as a substitute for civic legitimacy.

"Congress should handle it" is true. However, at this moment, "Congress will handle it" is speculative fiction run amok.
