I post about travel, transport, and working-class realities — from lived experience, not theory.

No hot takes. No culture-war performance.
Just how systems behave when you’re the one inside them.
Today’s Life Lesson:

Don’t listen to a driver who has the Previous model of Mercedes Sprinter..

Turns out the oil drainage mechanisms are different, and an hour isn’t long enough to let the oil cool down..

Pressure issue with the engine oil.

I now have 2 burnt hands and face.

I don't see who replaces Starmer. And that's one big reason why I suspect he'll survive for the moment. No obvious candidate.

Still not doing a Number 2 in them though💩😂.

The real question is, why hasn’t she named anyone at all?
Ghislaine Maxwell should be sent back to a maximum-security prison until she’s ready to publicly answer questions and name names under oath to Congress.

I can’t remember which ones I changed last🤦🏻‍♂️.

Our Media are going to be vastly underprepared for this.

If you like, or are rather easily drawn into culture war type rhetoric, then this is a good read for you.

Starmer does need to go.

Knowingly allowing Mandelson to become Ambassador after he knew he was in contact with Epstein after his conviction was an inexcusable lack of judgement at best.
I suppose there had to be a slot somewhere for some #starmer loyalist to defend their boy. Here it is, in #theobserver: Starmer's biographer #tombaldwin explains how everything is the fault of everyone except Starmer. 🙄 Especially #gordonbrown […]

Nice bit of #StreetArt whilst driving randomly around #Calais on Saturday.

It’s nice to have random shopping days in France where you don’t really plan to do anything substantial.

I admit, I got the restored bit wrong, Labour have only committed to restore once fiscal conditions allow it, my bad,

However, wishing they kept Rwanda plan and not be racist is just stupid, it’s like wishing they kept the branding iron and just used it more kindly.

As with most travelling on the Dover-Calais crossing, it requires proper timing, which because we only an hour or so from Dover, we can very much do!

With the exemption of when there is an issue with the Ferries or LeShuttle (like weather or power failure) we’ve never waited hours and Hours.

Weather wasn’t that good in the afternoon, luckily, this trip was about shopping, one of the benefits of only living an hour from Dover Port.

For us, luckily, #Brexit hasn’t really negatively, directly impacted us for the most part.

One of the core reasons the US/UK hollowed out its own industrial base and shipped it to China 🇨🇳 in the 1970/80 and 90’s was to discipline its own working class, to break unions, crush wage power, and send a clear message: capital rules, labour obeys.

And the “progressives” helped them.

What the hell!
The driver must be a complete psychopath to deliberatly drive onto a footway at children.
They need their licence shredding. Weaponised nutter.
While the protest was underway, Thames Valley Police issued several tickets to offenders – including one motorist who, when seeing the children wave their signs at him while he was parking on double yellows, mounted the pavement and drove towards them.

The UK’s university system model, just like the UK’s economic model, is completely unfit for use.

It relies on ever increasing amounts of people to be sustainable.

Like with the UK’s economic model, it needs to be drastically changed.

This stuff about student loans is absolutely grim. Student loans shouldn't be a thing. It's absolutely shameful that people can't just go to properly funded unis to study in this country. Whatever they want. With a grant, if necessary.

EDUCATION BENEFITS SOCIETY AND IS AN END UNTO ITSELF. #bbcqt

Totally this
I am a landlord; the letting agency I use wanted to raise the rent on the one flat I let out by 10%. I told them that inflation was less than 4% so any more than that wasn't fair. At least some of this is driven by letting agents trying to maximize their take.
