Indeed. And also, the party which advocated a reset of the relationship with the EU won the last election. Even if the referendum *had* defined the terms of a post-Brexit relationship - which, as Dmitry points out, it did not - a national election eight years later is now the source of legitimacy.
Brexit was a referendum on whether the UK should leave the European Union.

If the people bleating about "Brexit Betrayal" wanted the Referendum to enshrine their pet policy preferences, they should have included them in the question.
