I have always had a problem with authority. Viet Nam vet - yet, after I was (Hon) discharged, I joined the anti-war protest in Washington. Might be called liberal - I call it empathy for fellow humans. French Canadian heritage.
Saw a post recently.

It said Trump held a mirror up to American to show where we are today as a society.

This is who we are.

Sums up the GOP approach to governing: what’s in it for me.

Probably sounded better in the original Russian.
Stunning development: Senators now confirm the Trump admin’s 28-point “peace plan” for Ukraine wasn’t a U.S. plan at all. It was a Russian wish list. Follow along. This is crazy. 1/

1st: why did it take an act of Congress to release the Epstein Files?
2nd: why 30 day delay?
Last: do we really think any of this will touch Trump?

Health Care? In US, payment for medical treatment is determined by companies driven by profit motive.
If we had Medicare for all, paid from taxes, the decisions would be between the doctor & patient; the bill paid out of Medicare. This would also eliminate the need for Medicaid.
Employers off hook.
We need a drum beat for universal basic income and healthcare that only gets louder and louder. Consider taking a moment each day to post at least one thing about the need for them, or to repost what others have posted. I do this every day. You can use my timeline to save time. To those who do, TY!

Yes.
Basic Economics 101.
UBI - universal basic income would juice the economy because of the multiplier effect. Those with lower incomes, will spend the funds which multiplies through the economy. As opposed to tax cuts for the rich, which takes money out of circulation; hoarded by the wealthy.

Johnson could convene the House, hold a quick vote, then adjourn.
He will be “too busy” to swear in Grijalva.
THE SHUTDOWN CLOTURE VOTE IS A PLOY TO SWEAR IN CONGRESSWOMAN GRIJALVA. I BET THE FINAL VOTE GETS VOTED DOWN ON FRIDAY. OF COURSE, THEN SENATE REPUBLICANS WILL NUKE THE FILIBUSTER SO IT WON’T MUCH MATTER.
November 10, 2025 at 7:28 PM
Good observation. Johnson is faced w/ choice: convene the House to pass the Senate bill to open the Gov’t; But, he would have to swear in the member from AZ, opening Epstein files. Greg Abbott is already delaying a D. seat in TX.
So either the Gov’t functions or Epstein files. Sucks to be him.
Sanders: That is a totally meaningless gesture. You can get 100 votes here and it won't mean anything because the House is not going to take it up.

This is who we are. GOP base gets opinions from Fox, RW podcasts & from media, controlled by oligarchs. Trump is a useful stooge, tasked with creating chaos to mask the progress toward kleptocracy.
Racism, cruelty, hate- all ok with this cult.
Time to vote out our aging D. leaders.
Time for youth.
Unfortunately still true bsky.app/profile/adam...
American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.
November 10, 2025 at 4:09 PM
The current crop of talking heads on literally all cable “news”, do this: You invite a Dem. (who is eager to get any exposure), then ask when he is going to fix a problem; ignoring the fact that he & his party have no power to influence an outcome; ignoring where the real problem lies.
A stupid question. She knows the answer yet tries to point blame where it doesn't reside with a question from the alternate reality.

Seems like ages ago the last time I posted on Twitter (refuse to use x, y or z).
One of my last posts explored a thought experiment about a “great sorting” coming, in which people, families & companies choose what they are willing to put up with & where they will live.
The concept is coming alive….

Douthat clings to religion & hierarchy in every article. Have we ever seen him express outrage at GOP agenda, Trump’s actions & lies?
Best he can do is “both sides”
Douthat is a slimy creep, particularly on the subject of women, as he’s shown for a long time now. NYT editors are showing their asses when they publish and promote his “just asking questions” retrograde misogyny year after year.

Could it be?
When no one is paying attention to him, he slips into a coma. He needs constant adoration in order to function.
He is not human, nor humane. He couldn’t give a s*** about the rich guy collapsed on the floor.
Well, that certainly cleared that up.

In today’s NYT opinion article, Ross Douthat clearly pointed to the culprit in the White House ballroom controversy. It’s Obama’s fault. Along with progressives & liberals.
Excusing Trump’s demolition of the East Wing as “boys will be boys” excess, he ignores the lack of consultation required by law
