This is brilliant with the mighty @petepaphides.bsky.social Mash Down Birmingham pre-ordered!
In 10 minutes I will be speaking to the exceptionally excellent Guy Garvey about our latest two releases on Needle Mythology. To say that there's quite a story behind them is some understatement. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m...

This is a cracking new tune by Seamus Fogarty…a blend of electronica and folk with a motorik underpinning. Worth a few minutes of your time, shout out to @elizabethalker.bsky.social for introducing this via Unclassified 🙂

Caught up with Edgar Wright’s The Running Man. Kind of firmly in the OK category. I guess I had hoped for it to be a bit better tbh. Sorry.

Announcing the new book from one of the greatest music writers of his generation, @simonreynolds.bsky.social

Still in a Dream, out this June, is the definitive story of the slackers and shoegazers who reinvented rock, as the music they created reverberated through the late 80s into the early 90s.

Finally caught up with the Becoming Led Zeppelin documentary…very enjoyable and well put together…avoided the usual dull li e of talking heads telling you how great things were. And gosh they were a great band back then

Picked this up at a record fair yesterday, 1968 US edition of the Planet of the Apes soundtrack (with those lovely ‘wooooooh’ noises). For a record that’s almost sixty years old it sounds fantastic, though I do need to invest in a Humminguru cleaner..

I’m not sure if my parents taking me to see Tommy Steele in Blackpool counted tbh…tho he did a cover of Hey Jude and the support was the guy who sang “there’s a
Mouse on the stair..where…there on the stair” which in retrospect was quite fun in a way a surly 13 year old didn’t appreciate at the time…

I liked The Long Walk, though it’s a tough watch in places and feels like maybe it was beamed back to us from five years in the future.
