PERSON OF THE DAY. 4 June 1923. American jockey Frank Hayes suffered a fatal heart attack while riding Sweet Kiss in a steeplechase at Elmont. The horse crossed the winning line 1st, making Hayes the only dead jockey to have won a horse race. The result of the race stood.

Remembering Tony Hancock, born #OTD 12 May 1924. Best known for Hancock's Half Hour on radio from 1954, when it transferred to TV he became Britain's top star and the first to earn £1000 a show. Even now, his shows written by Galton & Simpson are part of our culture. A pint?
