The Giants are hiring Quentin Eberhardt as their new director of performance, according to Mike Wilson of the Knoxville News Sentinel. Eberhardt was the director of baseball sports performance at Tennessee and previously worked for the Cubs.

Orioles are hiring Donnie Ecker as bench coach, according to a source.

Ecker overlapped with new O’s manager Craig Albernaz on San Francisco’s staff from 2020-21. The 39-year-old was in Texas from 2022-25.

The Baltimore Sun was on it first.

Buster Posey told reporters at the GM Meetings today that Oscar Bernard, Eliezer Zambrano and Taira Uematsu will be staying on the Giants' coaching staff. They also want to bring Mark Hallberg back, but he's been a "popular guy" with some other teams.

Hearing that former Padres manager and Twins bench coach Jayce Tingler has agreed to join Tony Vitello's staff in San Francisco. Tingler and Vitello were college teammates at Missouri and have remained close friends, so this is a very predictable outcome.

The Giants declined Tom Murphy’s $4 million team option for 2026, making him a free agent. Murphy will still receive a $250K buyout.

Logan Webb said he's heard a lot of positive things about Tony Vitello from former Vols like Garrett Crochet and Drew Gilbert and other players who were recruited by him over the years.

#Royals third base coach Vance Wilson interviewed for San Francisco’s managerial opening this month and is a candidate for the manager’s job in Minnesota, too, according to a source. Twins have him on their interview list.

Buster Posey said he spoke with Bruce Bochy and said the door is always open to bringing him back to the Giants in some role, but not as a manager.
