As we start romanticizing art & community again, can we also romanticize writing as a communal activity instead of a elitist loner one?

I write best with friends. I love sharing messy WIPs. The most rewarding part of writing is getting to see other people's reactions to what I've made.

A lot of creators essentially saying "My work might contain nudity and sexual situations, but it's NOT porn. My work is important and artistic, while their work is dirty, which is still okay to hate and censor." But guess what! The purity squad makes no such distinction.

Can y'all please boost this? The number one thing that keeps indie authors locked in with Ingram over literally every better printer out there is their monopoly on distribution.

Their quality, prices, customer support, etc. ALL suck & everyone knows that, but has no other way to get into stores.
Also, I've been struggling to compile this, so if you work at an indie bookstore that will take books direct from authors/any distributor that isn't Ingram or the Big 5, can you please let me know below?

I have a small list but would love more!

Medical orgs in support of the ban remains at 0.

Living at the bottom of the globe seems like it's all fun and games until you're trying to buy a novel… just a normal paperback… directly from the author and the website wants to charge you $70 ($40 USD) shipping. Thank goodness for US forwarding addresses, my pre-Christmas wallet is grateful.
