Forgot to post this from last week -- there's snow up there on Grandfather Mountain! We didn't get any where we are, but that stuff is on its WAY. Supposed to be a cold-ass, snowy winter here in western North Cackalacky.

For quite a bit of the month of October, I worked on updating a bunch of covers for my novels. I'd taken a class or two on this, and I've been studying book covers for years. I finally buckled down and made some much-needed changes.
Bring on the Before and After pix!

For quite a bit of the month of October -- way too much of it, in my opinion -- I worked on updating a bunch of covers for my novels. I'd taken a class or two on this, and I've been studying book covers for years. I finally buckled down and made some much-needed changes. I thought I'd show you some Before and After pix, because it's always fun to see what changed and what decisions prompted those changes.

SNAP is running dry without govt. funding. If you can afford it, donate to your local food bank. 42 million people in 22 million households are relying on this program to eat. 1 in every 7 children.

Great thread about not letting despair and doubt creep into your writer brain!
Book 2 of the well-reviewed The Witch Roads duology drops next week (The Nameless Land). As does a near future political sf short story on @reactorsff.bsky.social
I recently turned in an epic fantasy novel in the Witch Roads world. I am chugging along!
Today, 20K into a new book: Why is this crap?

Current read: Chuck Wendig's THE STAIRCASE IN THE WOODS. My first book by him. The writing is top-notch, very visceral and sharp, but still somehow humorous and smart. But man, the book is dark. Like one of those nightmarish horror movies that makes your skin crawl, but you can't stop watching...

Testing out the WordPress newsletter feature... This could get messy.
(A belated) Welcome to the newsletter!
NOTE: I'm experimenting with WordPress's version of a newsletter with this entry. Think of this as the welcome email you should've gotten when you signed up! I'm just running a little behind... Getting back to writing stories and novels again has been a journey. This newsletter will cover mainly the RESULTS of that journey — I’ll send out a newsletter update whenever I have a new novel or story out there for you to read and enjoy.

Went to the Boone, NC, No Kings yesterday, with my friend Lynette (a journalism prof). The crowd of about 600 folks got a ton of supportive honks and waves. Just a few middle fingers and shouters — it’s amazing (and kinda sad) how mad MAGA folk are… #NoKingsBoone
