The Christmas trees are up outside Barnsley town hall so I think it's acceptable to start sharing links to The Barnsley Carol again. Here's the 'original' recording by @industrialteg.bsky.social of the Arthur Godfrey carol that had been lost for 90 years

"The darker nights have come again, quicker than the year before"

I've really got involved in the 20th anniversary of Maximo Park's A Certain Trigger by going to Limassol on my holiday earlier this month.

Currently listening to the album playback with @johnkennedydj.bsky.social on @radiox.co.uk

It's been quite the week 😔 Fatigued by the latest bout of covid I've been trying to come to terms with two people I know dying quite suddenly. I tried to shrug it off as them not being close friends but it still hurts.

I got weirdly emotional watching the Hollyoaks and #Brookside crossover. I suppose it was a reminder of simpler times. Dean Sullivan as Jimmy Corkhill was very much missed

A poem about Dickie Bird by Ian McMillan which he read out on BBC Radio Sheffield earlier today:

It's the final over
Of the final test
And Time is bowling
The final ball;
And the innings that stretched To 92
Will end just here
'Cos it's umpire's call.

It wouldn't be a day in Manchester without getting caught in the rain at some point!

Brilliant night at the AO arena, Q&A sides, Chris Hawkins & Paul Smith I didn't take any photos so here's one from 2008 the first year I saw Maximo Park, a band I've seen every year since.

#Barnsley10k was a hot one! I'm really pleased with my time considering it's a decade since my last 10k race and I haven't been able to train for a couple of weeks. (1 hour and 18 seconds)

Friends worry that Michael is already struggling to find ways to fill the Glastonbury void...

I keep seeing photos of an M&S strawberry sandwich. I thought I'd have a go at making my own. I didn't have any cream so substituted with crisps.

My Glastonbury commentary so far: Biffy Clyro should have headlined tonight rather than Denise Welsh's son.
