Our right to protest is under threat. I just signed @friends-earth.bsky.social’s petition to stop new police powers that could shut down many peaceful protests and weaken our democratic rights. Add your name too: foe.uk/1tjku
Stop the attack on our right to protest
The government is planning new powers that could seriously restrict your right to protest. Under these proposals, police could limit or block protests based on the so-called “cumulative impact” of pas...

Detecting all AI content is close to impossible, I suspect only Googles algorithms are still reliably capable of it.

Governments seem too slow with AI-labelling regulation, while companies even endorse AI content.

Adam instead proposes human content verification, however we likely will need both.
We're unprepared for AI's big threat.

It isn't just deepfakes. It’s a world where nothing is trusted, including real evidence.

I wrote in Poynter about fake images from MN, Trump's Maduro photo, and AI "enhanced" ICE agent faces.

Instead of labeling what's fake, we need ways to label what's real.
The real threat of AI is the collapse of trust - Poynter
Why journalism needs to prove which images are authentic — not just label deepfakes

Musk = Evil.
Jason Haley’s Southaven home is one of the closest to the gas plant helping power Grok, where 18 turbines now operate 16 to 24 hours per day and have made his life at home “torture,” he told city officials.
As Musk’s xAI Data Centers Encroach on Southaven, North Mississippi Residents Push Back
As Elon Musk’s xAI expands its data centers into Southaven, Mississippi, residents are decrying noise pollution and raising concerns over emissions.

In London for a few days a bumped into Mediterranean (Roman) Nettle Urtica membranacea in Walthamstow. Not a species I’ve seen before but unmistakable with those long linear inflorescences! #urbanbotany

prayer formed

I moved last year. The deepest sort is what to keep, what to let go. Patti Smith just posted about Fire Horse purging too. I'll post the link!

So in my home gallery, two prints I've had forever are yellowing.

This is a personal favorite. It's fun deciding where to put it!

It's way harder than they thought it would be to reorganize the military with only loyalists.

These scientists looked at bee flight to see how resilient bees may be in climate warming. 🌱 Bumble bee babies are already dying in their nests from heat. Honey bee queens stop laying all together at temps above 110F. (Some exceptions if there is no wind, adequate water is available.)
How do busy bees avoid overheating from flying?
New measurements could help predict pollinators’ ability to withstand climate change
