My new paper with @bijanrouhani.bsky.social and @kristen-hopper.bsky.social explores a probable Persian Garden complex identified on a set of 1941 RAF aerial photographs taken over #Tabriz #Iran. This vast complex had not been previously documented and was built over by urban sprawl in the 1990s.

NEW Utilising Second World War aerial photography, researchers have identified a monumental Persian garden complex on the outskirts of Tabriz, Iran.

One of the largest examples identified, it is also unique in comparison to its contemporaries.

Our monitoring work over #Gaza has shown that destruction of the historic environment by the IDF has continued despite the ceasefire, most notably in the widespread demolition of parts of Gaza City's E suburbs (including W of the Yellow Line) in the first weeks of December 2025.
Remote-sensing assessment of Gaza's heritage shows the devastating impact of systematic demolition of #Gaza City's eastern Shejaiya area as recently as December, incl. west of the Yellow Line. This area has the highest density of documented historic structures outside the centre of Gaza City.

Hey, do you all know that there are people in prison in the UK, arrested for connection to Palestine Action, who have been on hunger strike for 45 days. David Lammy refuses to even engage with MPs to discuss the issue.

After conducting extensive earthworks on top of the archeological mound Tell Ali Muntar, it appears in more recent @planet.com SkySat imagery from October 7 that the IDF has since paved the top of the mound.

The visible black area is similar to what we've seen when pavement has been used elsewhere.

It appears the IDF are conducting more earthworks on top of Tell Ali Muntar, potentially further damaging a Bronze Age-era archeological hill in what little remains of Gaza City's Shejaiya neighborhood.

Thanks for sharing Dominic. Really important updates in that video from Fadel. There's been even more damage to the Byzantine church site since the early 2025 photo was taken: bsky.app/profile/godi...
Unfortunately there has been further damage at the Jabaliya Byzantine church archeological site after it was damaged earlier this year.

The reception buildings have been destroyed. The protective structure that surrounded the 1,500 year-old mosaics also appears to have been partially destroyed.
