Encyclopædia Britannica will continue to use ‘Gulf of Mexico’ for a few reasons:

Seemingly ignoring the fact that the guy was a white collar criminal is truly phenomenal; it reveals intense discipline within the mainstream media to maintain its class bias. Imagine the coverage, and attention by law enforcement, if Brian was a gang member with the same record of harm.
