Conference season part II: one of my favourites, the Argonaute conference #Argonaute2025. As always with some specials: Ago playing cards ♠️♥️♣️♦️ & Ago gin (a favourite since the first meeting). Such fun to have co-organized this @svobodalab.bsky.social ❗️, @farmgirlphd.bsky.social & Gunter Meister.

in these mostly wretched times, you have to find joy wherever you can. last week my ad hoc band the Argonautes (me, Yuki Tomari, Germano Cecere) had a blast playing in Prague. we rocked some old and new songs, and can't wait to do it again in Toronto 2027!

A special day: Nobel laureate Victor Ambros in our lab! – a true pleasure to have him here.
He visited Regensburg to give the laudation at Prof. Dr. Dr. Davor Lessel’s inaugural lecture and to exchange ideas on AGO2 and microRNA research.

It was a pleasure to host the kickoff meeting for the second funding phase of “ex-RNA” (@dfg.de Research Unit 5116) here in Regensburg. No group photo this time – but plenty of exciting ideas, lively discussions, and great science😉

Our latest paper is now available in Cell Reports: “Human DIS3 acts as a cytoplasmic endoribonuclease targeting circular RNA” www.cell.com/cell-reports...
Congratulations and a big thanks to everyone involved on this exciting project!! @cp-cellreports.bsky.social
Cytoplasmic DIS3 is an exosome-independent endoribonuclease with catalytic activity toward circular RNAs
CircRNAs are generated during splicing, but their specific degradation pathways are poorly understood. Latini et al. identify and biochemically characterize the exo- and endoribonuclease DIS3 as a can...
