I think some people hear “grants” and think that without them, scientists and government workers just have less stuff to play with at work. But grants fund salaries for students, academics, researchers, and people who work in all areas of public service.

“Pausing” grants means people don’t eat.
White House pauses all federal grants, sparking confusion
The Trump administration has put a hold on all federal financial grants and loans, affecting tens of billions of dollars in payments.

The exact degree of population declines, however, will depend on local hunter harvest and recruitment rates, the report authors say.

Are we using this platform for #Rstats help yet? I’m trying to figure out why my stochastic population simulation is running away instead of declining steadily like it does in the matrix format. Any #populationecology or #statisticalecology folks who can help? 🧪

Scientists, how do you combat sunk cost fallacy thinking in your research? If project x has been a lot of work so far and needs more work to be published, without that work it’ll be mothballed … how do you know when to pull the plug vs invest more to get it over the finish line? #AcademicChatter 🧪
