It is vital that any attempts to create policies excluding trans ppl are robustly challenged using Art 8 of the HRA/ECHR. The Equality Act doesn't apply in NI so any attempt to 'implement' the SC ruling is massive overreach & likely to breach the HRA/ECHR. I hope the ECNI guidance will reflect this.
We are dismayed and angered by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council's statement on the Supreme Court ruling.

Full statement in alt text.

This research is just so useful and interesting!
Important to remember that, as we argued in our motonormativity research, the environment that shapes people's actions - possibly more than what they think about those actions - is multi-layered. It's the built environment, but also the social, legal and cultural environment

Feeling sad and angry that we have to do this, but please come and join the cycle vigil organised for Gary McMahon who was killed while cycling just days ago.

No more excuses. Build safe infrastructure now @deptinfra.bsky.social

Ebikes are not 'cheating' - whatever that means - they are an absolute game changer in terms of sustainable urban mobility.

And they are just they are just the most fun! 🎉
“Believe it or not, electric bikes offer more exercise than pedal bikes on average. That fact might sound strange, but the science is clear.”

Why e-bikes actually give more exercise than “acoustic”bikes. (but both/either are excellent when it comes to better cities)

This is so sad. My thoughts are with Gary's family and friends.

It is particularly scary when you know this junction and how little has been done in North Belfast to provide safe cycle routes
Our deepest condolences to all who knew and loved Gary.

So far, Sinn Feins take on how to handle DfI brief has been to;

- Reallocate funds earmarked for active travel schemes to roads

- Clog up bus lanes with private hire taxi companies, only benefitting two large businesses

- Delay Hill street pedestrianisation, again

Want Green? Vote Green!
John O'Dowd's Stormont department is pretending that it's spending £2.6m on a cycle lane, but most of that money is funding a road for cars and lorries - and the department is refusing to say if this has been happening more widely.

Huge sums which Stormont claims to be spending on cycling infrastructure are instead being used to resurface a road for lorries and cars, John O’Dowd’s department has admitted.

Hi, all women's sector folks! Trying to put together a starter pack for all women's sector organisations/ activists/feminists on BlueSky. If you see yourself as part of that, could you share your profiles below, please? Ideally, could we make an Ireland pack and a NI-specific pack?

Can confirm that my e-cargo bike has transformed how I travel around my city!

But storage is a real issue in terraced houses with little or no yard.
Cargo bike storage..its a real (and easily solvable) blocker to wider adoption of these amazing family workhorses

More cargo bikes = fewer car trips = happier & healthier communities

@rezinachowdhury.bsky.social lets fix this!

What an interesting project!

I was fascinated to learn about the life of David Strain through bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0022qsg

Great to see a little piece of that hidden history brought back to life.

This a great seminar series, with a whole roster of excellent sessions on Gender, History and International Law.

Really delighted to be part of the first session, with an incredible line up of speakers in conversation about how to write feminist histories.

Details on how to join in the poster.
