“If we fail to learn from lessons of the past about what causes autism, we are destined to make harmful, costly errors again. Autistic people participate in society at every level. Their strengths deserve to be recognized, and their needs deserve to be met”

The discussion of the new NIH initiative (driven by Secretary Kennedy) to examining the causes of the increased rate of autism (diagnosis) is giving me a case of severe dèjú vu (among other feelings)

Who’s gonna tell Trump childcare costs 25k a year?
Trump "considering" a $5,000 ‘baby bonus’ to encourage "births". Meanwhile it costs on average $10,000 to $18,000 to give birth and baby expenses range from $1,100 to $2,500 monthly. Not including rent, food, insurance, and other necessities.

This 'bonus' is a joke.

BREAKING: We're suing the National Institutes of Health over their politically-motivated purge of research grants.

This is an unlawful attack on scientific progress that puts lives at risk.

Cory Booker brought some hope on a day that was devastating to science. 🙌
I’ve taken the Senate floor and will speak for as long as I’m physically able to lift the voices of Americans who are being harmed and not being heard in this moment of crisis. Watch here:

A note from the field- when submitting NIH grants be sure to check on your “my bibliography”. Add citations that are missing and delete duplicates. I’m shocked by how often this is overlooked!

Jay Bhattacharya committee hearing tomorrow morning at the Senate.

If you can, please show up. Bring an anti-Bhattacharya sign or shirt. And do interviews with any reporters you can.

It’s important that the press sees that scientists oppose him.

Excellent post and worth the read. No group is a monolith (duh). This post is about recognizing women for showing up even when they are often excluded from leadership positions. I see you friends and stand by your side!
Bluetorial: Women, courage, and leadership

What follows will include some generalizations based on population averages of what I have experienced over the course of my career. There are, of course, exceptions in every group who are substantially more to one extreme or the other.
